june work

we’re slowing down a bit with formal homeschool work
and spending more time outside doing field trips or attending different shows,
being spontaneous in an unschooling fashion,
but we are still homeschooling through the summer.

here’s some of our new work for june:

how do you homeschool during the summer? or do you take a well-deserved break?

  1. ASA,
We go full steam ahead in the summer. We typically do school work 6 days a week all year round, but we take days off for feild trips, when daddy is home, doctors appointments, when they need a down day, and when i need a mental health day πŸ™‚ So it is not as intense as it sounds. During this summer we tend to do Islamic studies, language arts, and math only. Since we have a fourth child comiing in the fall, inshallah, I am really pressed to get them to their yearly goals before the birth. We will see how that goes. Anywho, Keep up the fantastic job. You are areal inspiration.

    Peace,
    Candace
mother to the Lion King(6), Buffalo King(4), and the Bear King(2) πŸ™‚

  2. I do not homeschool my kids but summer is now a ‘vacay’. Big A is in camp and learning more qur’an. She also requents the public library for books to read when we have family ‘quiet time’ (no tv, no noise).

Little A goes to the library as well. She likes to be read to and is doing well with letter recognition. Since Big A is going into the 2nd grade in the fall I am lookin for more montessoir activities for her to do during ‘homework’ time.

    Great post.

    1. UmmAmirah: I love going to the library too. One of the things I try to do is put books on hold beforehand so that we can spend a bit of time in the library reading outloud before we checkout books. Then I also won’t have to spend time searching the stacks for books they might enjoy. We can all relax and enjoy a book or two together at the library. Thanks for sharing.
