alHamdulilLah, many US libraries have books
about islamic-related topics in the kids section of the library.
in addition, there are lots of places online
where we can purchase islamic books for children
— one of my favorites is maryland-based islamicbookstore.com.
however, i’ve seen my share of poorly narrated and/or illustrated islamic kid’s books.
that last thing you want to do is purchase a book that you end up not liking,
then have to go through the bother of returning it
and then go through the process of guessing on another.
UmmahReads solves the problem of which book(s) to get
for whatever occasion or topic you need.
the UmmahReads blog
— at muslimkidsbooks.wordpress.com —
has reviews, articles, interviews, and recommendations
related to english-language, fiction and non-fiction books, multimedia and blogs
for muslim kids and teens,
as well as tips on promoting literacy.
plus the search options are great: you can search based on age group, topic, author, illustrator and more.
check it out!
Assalamu ‘alaykum
JazakiAllahu Khairan for the mention! 🙂
I really appreciate you taking time to write about what my blog offers. SubhanAllah there is so much more I want to share but with the projects I’m working on right now, the time just flies. As of now I have a pile of books to be read and another pile waiting to be reviewed for the blog.
I received your message and will reply to you soon, inshaAllah.
May Allah reward you and your family with goodness in this world and the Hereafter.
Ma’salaama
